A Michael Schaal, P.E., MLE

Mr. Schaal is a Principal at EVA and leads the firm’s natural gas & oil practice. Mr. Schaal leverages his background in engineering and economics, and his career experience in both the public and private sectors, to provide expert support to organizations in the areas of oil and gas, alternate fuels, and transportation. Recent work includes providing expert reports for refineries regarding the Renewable Fuel Standard, and for shippers regarding a petroleum products pipeline; drafting an expert report in an upstream oil and natural gas production dispute, and another expert report with regards to a dispute between a natural gas producer and a gas gathering system. In addition, he provided expert reports and advice regarding a rulemaking proceeding on the economics of fuel efficiency. At EVA, Mr. Schaal’s team uses “in house” energy models and runs the National Energy Modeling System (NEMS). Mr. Schaal’s experience includes serving as the Director of the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s Office of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels Analysis, and as a Senior Engineer with Bechtel. He is an accredited Model Law Engineer (MLE) and is a licensed engineer in California, Maryland, and West Virginia.
